چکیده

The adsorption and decomposition of NO on a K-deposited Pd(1 1 1) surface were investigated using X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, infrared reflection absorption spectroscopy, and temperature-programmed desorption. For the K-deposited Pd(1 1 1) surface, two different NO adsorption sites were observed in addition to the Pd site. On the clean Pd(1 1 1) surface, the adsorption of NO was purely molecular and reversible, but on the K-deposited surface, the adsorbed NO decomposed at two different temperatures, 530 and 610 K. These results indicate that the NO adsorption and decomposition sites were newly created by the deposition of K onto the Pd(1 1 1) surface. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

The adsorption and oxidation of methanol on thin palladium films

The adsorption of methanol (MeOH) on clean and oxygen covered Pd films, deposited on a multicrystalline Re substrate, has been studied using TPD, XPS and ISS. Significant differences in the chemistry are seen between thin (1 monolayer) and multilayer (> 10 monolayers) films, the thicker film behaving in a very similar way to the Pd{ l l l } surface and showing a higher reactivity to MeOH decomp...

Analysis of the Sensitivity of K-Type Molecular Sieve-Deposited MWNTs for the Detection of SF6 Decomposition Gases under Partial Discharge

Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is widely utilized in gas-insulated switchgear (GIS). However, part of SF6 decomposes into different components under partial discharge (PD) conditions. Previous research has shown that the gas responses of intrinsic and 4 Å-type molecular sieve-deposited multi-wall carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) to SOF2 and SO2F2, two important decomposition components of SF6, are not obvio...

Monodispersed Pd-nanoparticles on carbon fiber fabrics as structured catalyst for selective hydrogenation

Monodispersed Pd-nanoparticles (∼ 8 nm) prepared via a modified microemulsion method were deposited on active carbon fibers (ACF) fabrics and studied in a semi-batch 1-hexyne liquid-phase hydrogenation. The catalyst Pd(0.45 wt%)/ACF demonstrated > 96% selectivity to 1-hexene up to 90% of conversion. Initial activity at 303 K, 1.3 MPa pressure, in n-heptane as a solvent was 0.14 kmolH2 kg −1 Pd ...

The adsorption of ethylene on ethylidyne-covered Pd(111)

Reflection absorption infrared spectroscopy shows that ethylene adsorbs on ethylidyne-saturated Pd(1 1 1) ðHsatðCH3–CBÞ 1⁄4 0:25Þ at 80 K exhibiting a feature at 1100 cm , assigned to di-r-bonded ethylene adsorbed on the palladium surface. Since adsorbed ethylidyne also has a vibrational mode at 1090 cm , the assignment of the 1100 cm 1 mode to adsorbed ethylene was confirmed by adsorbing it on...

The adsorption and structure of carbon monoxide on ethylidyne-covered Pd(1 1 1)

A quarter of a monolayer of carbon monoxide (CO) adsorbs on ethylidyne-covered Pd(1 1 1) (ethylidyne saturation coverage, 0.25 monolayers) at 300 K, compared to the saturation coverage of 0.55 monolayers for CO on clean Pd(1 1 1). Infrared and temperature-programmed desorption data reveal that CO adsorbs on the hexagonal-closepacked, threefold hollow site on ethylidyne-covered Pd(1 1 1). This, ...
